tenth edition of the traditional celebration of St. Anthony
promoted by the Fontevecchia Association.

The event, in Borgo case Troiano di Spoltore (motorization zone - PE) will break through the stages of tradition with the exhibition of Abruzzo blankets, the setting of the altar dedicated to the Saint and the traditional blessing of fire, loaves and animals, dogs, cats, and piglets brought by those present for the annual event. It relives an event that is part of our roots and memory, and that finally, thanks to the commitment made in recent years, also through an intense activity of dissemination conducted in schools, is recovering. Our goal is the jealous preservation and custody of traditions and calendar festivals that in the last century have marked the lives of our grandparents.

Intense schedule of activities. From 5 p.m. there will be the exhibition of the typical Abruzzo wool blankets, white and brown or amaranth color, the 'tarantine' as produced in Taranta Peligna, together with the setting of the devotional altar dedicated to St. Anthony where the image of the Saint will be surrounded by oranges, baskets of loaves with crosses, of cillittes, the typical sweets of devotion, and from waxes.  

Then the blessing of the popular altar will take place, from which the procession of the women and men of the village will take part with the baskets of loaves and oranges, loaves that will then be distributed to those present and which, as tradition dictates, must be consumed precisely in the St. Anthony's Day.  

Immediately after will be held the blessing of the fire, the first of the four calendar festivals, prepared by the volunteers of the Association with branches, dung, brambles, ash and dry reeds, all material from the gardens and fields that will form a real pyramid lined with laurel branches. Tradition has it that among the flames of fire our grandparents would find the images that, in some way, gave a prediction of how they would be collected of the summer season: again this year everyone will be able to peer through the flaps of fire.  

And after the classic blessing of the animals will start the event of 'The Temptations of St. Anthony' accompanied also by a delegation of Zampognari, which traces the struggle of St. Anthony against the devils that, between temptations and anguish, will still come out defeated saint and Archangel Michael.

A representation that, every year, attracts so many people who rediscover a part of our history.  

To close the evening there will be the distribution of Lu'cumplimend', that is hot red wine with spices and cillitt', typical cake in the shape of a bird prepared with filling of grape jam. The event will of course be free to participate and the invitation to everyone is to bring their animals of affection for the blessing of the Saint.
