A long path, including stories, traditions and symbols accompany the public to visit the 'Table of the Dead', or in the rediscovery of the ancient tradition of Abruzzo leave home prepared the table in the night between the first and November 2 with best peasant dishes, from pasta made strictly by hand to baked chicken with potatoes, up to wine and dessert, to welcome and make more serene passage of the souls of their dead on that night, it is said, come back to find loved ones and loved ones. It 'an event organized for the evening of next Wednesday, November 1, by the Fontevecchia in Spoltore and will be held at the Borgo di Troiano homes. We must say that our event is totally different from the Halloween festivities, however, are not of our history nor our culture, but are indeed went to supplant our tradition that instead you wanted to dedicate the night of 1 and second, that of All Saints' Day and the celebration of the dead, just the commemoration and prayer for the souls of our loved ones who are no longer our other side. With "The Table of the Dead 'we want to tell the younger and bring to light an important tradition for our history, indeed a duty to honor in the most fair, respectful and appropriate those people who have been part of our lives and that that night, according to tradition, they return to their homes for a brief moment. The event, also organized in collaboration with the Association Blessed Marco d'Aviano, which is Fontevecchia partners, will start at 19.00 o'clock in front of the headquarters of the vehicle registration, which will begin the path of tradition and will be told what that happens on that night. To begin with we will distribute the candles in place and tell the story of the well of the warriors, located in what is now an embankment-roundabout, where historically the soldiers of the Spanish garrison they watered during the viceroy of Naples and bandits. So with only the light of the candles we incamminerà towards the Borgo Case Troiano, following a path delimited by the burners, and with few breaks, each of which will be characterized by a story about events and characters that have characterized the Borgo itself. Along the street of the village tell the story of the 'bones in the vutate lope de lo', ie the discovery of human bones following implantation of vineyards and olive groves, bones that still do suspect the on-site presence of a cemetery even Roman times. We nell'Uliveto visit by the discovery of an ancient burial making care not to run into mischief Mazzamurille de Lu, a sprite with a red cap on his head who likes to annoy the living with jokes of all kinds. Then we visit a house paying attention to the "Procession of the dead brothers" who, in silence and with lighted candles, followed by those present. Outside each house there will be some symbols, like the wheat bag or inverted broom and, each time, we will explain the reasons for those presences that sink in the Abruzzo tradition. Even the tables are laden according to local customs, with ham and cheese, macaroni with tomato sauce, chicken and potatoes, water, wine, bread, coffee, biscuits, pastries and fruit. But the distinction - explain the members of Fontevecchia - is that the food, however, may not be consummated, because the 'set table' must welcome the souls who will spend the night from the kitchen and you will find, as tradition, the dishes so loved in life. In fact, in ancient times it took place on refrigerium later banned by Christianity and, more recently, the family the next day food destined only to the poor ". During the evening you can pay homage to the Holy Trinity church, located in Case Troiano, which will be regularly open, and residents tell village stories about people who have historically inhabited the place, like 'The tavule of Granny Filumene', 'Zì Pippine '' and 'The windows of Zà Retine'. Particular attention will be setting up the altar of the Souls pezzentelle, the souls in purgatory in search of grace with the ability to hear the story of a whole Abruzzo and southern devotion. After the event, all participants will be offered the 'penitential' food, which is also strictly respectful of tradition, or 'the grain of the dead', that is boiled wheat with walnuts, pomegranate juice and baked, boiled beans, chickpeas abbruscati , chicocce and patane and red wine. "So those present - have concluded association Fontevecchia makers - will have the opportunity to rediscover a tradition spread throughout the south up to the 50s and which unfortunately has been lost." Then, before midnight, all at home with three sent to the front door to prevent pantefiche mazzamurille and not to make us spend a quiet night. Participation and free tastings.
